Precision CNC Milling Services
Esco Precision provides 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC milling for tight-tolerance components in metals and engineering plastics — from one-off prototypes through repeatable production runs, all under an ISO 9001:2015 quality system.
Our milling department pairs multi-axis vertical machining centers with in-process inspection to hold demanding geometry the first time and every time after. 5-axis capability lets us machine complex contoured surfaces, undercuts, and angled features in a single setup, which reduces fixturing error and shortens lead times on intricate parts.
Typical machined tolerances run to ±0.0002 in (±0.005 mm) on critical features, with finer control available on select geometry through fixturing and temperature-stabilized machining. Surface finishes down to 16 µin Ra are routinely achievable, and tighter finishes can be reached with secondary operations. Every job travels with a control plan tied to the customer print, and first-article inspection is performed before a production run is released.
We machine part envelopes from small connector-sized components up to work roughly 40 × 20 × 25 in, and we scale seamlessly from a single prototype to recurring blanket-order production. Programming is done from your solid model (STEP, IGES, Parasolid) or 2D drawing (PDF, DXF, DWG), and we can reverse-engineer from a sample when no model exists.
Because milling is often one step in a larger part, Esco routinely combines it with turning, EDM, and downstream finishing — plating, anodizing, heat treat, passivation — managing the full supply chain so you receive a finished, inspected component rather than a work-in-process.

Common applications

Frequently asked questions
What tolerances can your CNC milling hold?
On critical features we routinely hold ±0.0002 in (±0.005 mm), with tighter control possible on select geometry through dedicated fixturing and temperature-stabilized machining. Every tolerance is verified against your print with first-article and in-process inspection.
Do you offer 5-axis machining?
Yes. Our 5-axis machining centers cut complex contours, undercuts, and angled features in a single setup, which improves accuracy and reduces lead time compared with repositioning a part across multiple 3-axis operations.
What file formats do you need for a milling quote?
A 3D solid model (STEP, IGES, Parasolid, or native CAD) plus a 2D drawing (PDF, DXF, or DWG) calling out critical dimensions, tolerances, materials, and finish. If you only have a sample part, we can reverse-engineer it.
Can you handle both prototypes and production runs?
Yes. We prototype single parts to prove out a design and then scale the same program to recurring production, often on blanket orders with scheduled releases to match your demand.
What materials do you mill?
Aluminum, stainless and alloy steels, titanium, brass, bronze, copper, tool steel, and engineering plastics such as PEEK, Delrin, PTFE, and polycarbonate.
